The whole project included the construction of 3 new freshwater, lagoon-shaped, swimming pools, a new pool bar and a snack bar.

A number of taverns and traditional restaurants, as well as supermarkets and stores, are located within 5 minutes walking distance from our property. Car rental, although useful, is not essential as bus service is frequent and all day long, with the nearest bus-stop being 2 minutes walk away.

Summer Lodge is located 16 kilometerss West of Hania city by the old costal road. There is frequent bus service to the airports CHQ and HER, as well as to the seaports of Hania and Heraklion.
Hania city (also spelt as Chania) is the connection point whether you arrive by plane or boat. The bus station is in the heart, where the taxi driver or the local bus will take you from the airport or port. Visit www.chaniacrete.gr for further information and useful tips.
If you arrive to Crete at Hania airport (code CHQ) you can either get the public bus or a taxi to Hania city (drive costs about EUR 20) then the bus to Pirgos Psilonerou (last bus at 23:00). Ask which bus goes to Maleme and buy a ticket before getting on. We are located between bus stop No. 30 and 31 (2 minutes walk, single ticket costs about EUR 2). A taxi fare from airport to Summer Lodge costs about EUR 40 €. If you arrive by ferry to Hania (Souda Port) you can get the local bus (blue colour) to Hania city and then the bus to Pirgos Psilonerou. A taxi fare from Souda Bay to Summer Lodge costs about EUR 36.
From Heraklion port or airport (code HER) you can get the local bus or a taxi to the city heart (10 minutes drive) then the bus to Hania (single ticket costs about EUR 12 (last bus leaves at 21:00). A taxi fare from Heraklion to Summer Lodge costs about EUR 140.
If you drive your own car, take the new national road to Kissamos, then the second exit passed Hania. Look for the signs Platanias – Maleme.

Set around a pretty, flower-filled courtyard and orange grove, our provides you well-furnished and pleasantly decorated rooms. Most have private balconies or open terraces. Rooms on the ground floor, which face the gardens, have a patio region and are particularly cool in the heat of the summer.
We have the tremendous advantage of being around 400 meters far from the long, quiet coast of Maleme, mostly sandy but also pebbly. Only 5 kilometers from Platanias heart and 16 kilometers from Hania city, we are ideal for haveing water sports, relaxing countryside walks, or interesting visits to archaeological and historical sites.

As well as a great selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, the bar also serves food from the kitchen. Be prepared to mix with the family and their circle of friends that come to the bar for a drink or two in the evenings, or to sample our freshly made pizzas. They are so popular that we are seriously thinking of starting up in competition with the pizza giants of the world.
We provide lunch and breakfast which is offered from 08:00 to 10:00. We provide a wide great selection of dishes including local specialities and snacks which are available at any time of the day. All food is prepared on the spot for you. The majority of the raw foods are produced locally and delivered daily. All of the meals are prepared by mother Katerina, who is the quality assurance for homemade Cretan cuisine. Most of the fresh vegetables are produced in our vegetable garden and some of the eggs and chicken come from our farm. Our garden has many of shaded areas, ideal for meals during the hot summer days and nights, and we have an inside dining region with a log fire for cooler days.
Region:
There are tennis courts available just across the road at the Louis Creta Princess Hotel. The coast is 300 meters away and provides water sports. There are a selection of tavernas, bars, supermarkets and stores within a distance one can walk.
The little train service across the road provides various inland trips as well as a lift to Platanias village 5 kilometers away for storeping. There is also storeping in Chania 35 minutes away. Take the local bus just outside the hotel and visit the fishing village of Kolimbari only 10 minutes away.
Excursions in western Crete include scuba diving in Chania at a 5-star P.A.D.I. heart for experienced divers or beginners, horse riding only half an hour far from the hotel and Samaria Gorge, at 17 kilometers long it is the biggest gorge in Europe, a real challenge and a must. Walking boots or shoes are recommended. There are daily trips to the Pirate Island, visit the Venetian fortress of Gramvousa and swim in the magnificent crystal waters of Balos Bay. Discover magnificent Elafonissi Island, the blue lagoon of Crete, the palace of Knossos and the lost world of the Minoans. The surrounding region is popular with cyclists. Falasarna and Sfinari are the best coasts on the island, with their turquoise waters, soft pink sand and astounding views.
